OUR LIFELONG DREAM
Innovators with respect for Tradition
The Ponca: A Fragile Power
It All Starts Here
Everything begins with the soil — and in Collio, that soil is Ponca: a layered composition of marl and sandstone formed between 34 and 56 million years ago, when ancient seas deposited sediment that slowly compressed into mineral-rich earth. What was once ocean floor is now a living foundation for vines — fractured, luminous, and full of quiet history.
Its pale, crumbling surface resembles a mosaic of limestone fragments, giving the land both visual texture and geological depth. This delicate terrain demands care. It is easily eroded, sensitive to pressure, and must be worked with intention. But for those who treat it with respect, Ponca gives something rare: grapes that ripen in balance, retaining freshness, structure, and extraordinary aromatic complexity.
Our wines are born here — shaped by this land’s quiet strength, and marked by its unmistakable minerality.

Where Nature Leads, We Follow
The Grapes
From just over five hectares of vineyards, nestled mostly in the DOC Collio zone of Novali, we cultivate grapes not in pursuit of volume, but of expression. These hills — shaped by ancient seas and softened by good winds — offer the ideal balance of sun, slope, and soil. Here, we follow nature’s lead.
The vines we grow are rooted in place: indigenous varieties that have long called this land home, alongside a dedicated area for PIWI grapes, cultivated with a vision for sustainability and resilience. It’s a balance between tradition and evolution — between what has always thrived here and what the future quietly asks of us.
Farming follows the principles of voluntary integrated defence — a mindful approach that prioritises natural solutions and limits intervention. We avoid herbicides and protect biodiversity wherever possible, allowing the vineyard to thrive as part of a broader living system.
What grows here is not rushed. Each vine is part of an ecosystem — buzzing with bees, alive with complexity, and nourished by time, care, and restraint.
And when the grapes are ready, we bring them into the cellar — where their journey continues in silence and stone.

Varieties Evolve. Ponca Endures.
Why Our Labels Don’t List the Blend
Each of our bottles carries only what matters most: DOC Collio or IGT Venezia Giulia, and the name of the wine. You won’t find a breakdown of grape varieties — not by oversight, but by choice. We work exclusively with blends, never monovarietals, because no single grape can capture the full depth and nuance of this place.
Our wines are shaped not by variety, but by Ponca — the ancient marly sandstone that anchors our vines and defines Collio’s identity. To truly reflect the character of Ponca, you need harmony. A solo voice can be expressive, yes — but it’s the orchestra that brings the full composition to life. In the same way, a blend allows the soil to speak in chords, not notes — layered, textured, complete.
Our IGT Venezia Giulia wines come from vineyards just beyond the DOC zone — areas where we’ve planted PIWI grape varieties like Fleurtai, Sauvignon Kretos, and Merlot Khantus. These wines reflect our commitment to sustainability: fewer treatments, healthier soils, and a future-facing approach to viticulture.
Our DOC Collio wines, grown on classified land from classic varieties such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Sauvignon Blanc, and Merlot, carry forward a long-standing tradition of elegant, mineral-driven blends rooted in place.
We don’t list the blend composition because these grapes are simply the tools of today. In twenty years, we may need different ones. Climate conditions evolve. Challenges shift. But what remains — and what we honour on every label — is the land itself.
The Ponca. The exposure. The wind. The decisions we make with care.
That is what defines our wines. And that is what we choose to name.
Place over variety. Soil over fashion. Time over trend.
Our Guide Between Tradition And Tomorrow
Nicola Biasi
Nicola Biasi is more than a consultant — he’s the heartbeat of our winemaking vision. In 2021, he was named Best Young Winemaker in Italy and awarded Cult Oenologist at the Merano Wine Festival — the youngest ever to be honoured. That same year, he received the Sustainable Viticulture Award for guiding and inspiring PIWI innovation.
At Tenuta Della Casa, every enological decision— from selecting harvest dates to choosing concrete tank usage and aging protocols — is shaped by Nicola’s vision. His belief in letting terroir lead, not technique, means our wines are a reflection of land, not legacy.
Together, we champion a philosophy that puts sustainability, quality, and clarity at the centre: from our DOC Collio bottles to the PIWI line. Under Nicola’s guidance, our wines are not just made — they’re nurtured.
His leadership and authentic approach are woven into every bottle. With Nicola alongside us, Tenuta Della Casa is planting seeds for a future where each sip honours both heritage and true innovation.
“We don’t want wines that just tell a story — we want wines that become part of a healthier future.” — Nicola Biasi

Resistant Vines For A Resilient Future
What Is PIWI?
PIWI is where tradition meets gentle innovation — a way of growing that follows nature’s rhythm, not interrupts it.
These vines are the result of thoughtful crossbreeding: classic Vitis vinifera — the foundation of European winemaking — gently pollinated with wild, disease-resistant varieties from Asia. It’s a slow process, carried out without genetic modification, and with one clear goal: to help the plant protect itself, without relying on repeated chemical treatments.
The result is a vine that remains 95–98% true to its original identity, yet quietly stronger — more resilient to disease, more harmonious with its surroundings. For us, it’s not about chasing novelty. It’s about taking a step forward, without leaving behind what matters.
By cultivating PIWIs, we reduce our impact on the land and create wines that are not only expressive, but part of a healthier future — for our soil, our ecosystem, and the people who taste them.

Six Territories. One Vision. A New Way Forward.
Resistenti – Nicola Biasi
Across Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, and Trentino-Alto Adige, eight wineries — each rooted in its own land, climate, and tradition — have come together to form a unique alliance: the Resistenti – Nicola Biasi network. At its heart is a shared belief that the future of viticulture lies in resilience, biodiversity, and deep respect for terroir.
The network is guided by Nicola Biasi, one of Italy’s most celebrated oenologists, who was named Italy’s Best Young Winemaker and has become a pioneer in the vinification of PIWI (fungus-resistant) grape varieties. His role is more than advisory — he shapes the enological philosophy and supports every member of the group in crafting wines that are environmentally sustainable and organoleptically distinctive.
Together, the group promotes a viticultural model that drastically reduces chemical inputs, embraces local biodiversity, and expresses place through low-intervention winemaking.

Natural Closure, Thoughtful Choice
Why We Use Nomacork by vinventions
At Tenuta Della Casa, sustainability isn’t just a value — it’s built into every decision, right down to the cork. We use Nomacork PlantCorcs, closures made from renewable sugarcane biopolymers that are fully recyclable and free from cork taint (TCA). But this choice isn’t only ecological — it’s precise. Each cork is designed with a specific oxygen permeability, allowing us to guide the wine’s evolution after bottling. Lower oxygen transmission supports long ageing; higher porosity helps fresh wines open up gracefully. In every case, the goal is the same: to protect purity, support longevity, and let each wine reach you as it was meant to — honest, expressive, and intact.

Time, Space, and the Sound of Silence
The Cellar
Beneath the vineyards, a different kind of silence takes hold. Our cellar is built not just to store wine — but to shape it, slowly, gently, without noise or rush.
Here, we use Tulipe-shaped concrete tanks — elegant, porous vessels that breathe just enough to let the wine evolve. They don’t flavour the wine. They don’t interfere. They simply hold space, allowing nature to continue what the vineyard began.
It’s winemaking by subtraction — where stillness, gravity, and micro-oxygenation take the lead. The result? Wines that taste like where they come from, not what we did to them.

Shaped by Land and Vision
Pioneers in a Region Where Wine Is Tradition
In Friuli Venezia Giulia, winemaking is tradition. In Collio, it becomes identity. At Tenuta Della Casa, our work begins with a deep respect for that legacy — but it doesn’t stop there.
We craft wines not by imposing character, but by revealing it. Every choice in our cellar is shaped by that intention: to let the land speak, clearly and honestly. That’s why we ferment and age in materials that preserve purity, not mask it; why we favour slow transformations over quick results; and why each vintage reflects not just the grapes, but the ground they came from.
To serve that vision, we use Tulipe-shaped, unglazed concrete tanks — vessels that unite aesthetic harmony with technical precision. Their goblet-like form encourages natural convection, allowing for even, gentle extraction during fermentation. Their porous surface enables subtle micro-oxygenation, guiding the wine as it develops structure, balance, and depth.
With carefully regulated temperatures and minimal intervention, our cellar becomes a space of stillness and precision — where wine is not shaped, but revealed.
Minimal Intervention
A Pure Beginning: No Sulphites at Pressing
At Tenuta Della Casa, purity begins with the very first moment the grape is pressed. We use an advanced nitrogen lung system that protects the must from oxidation — not through chemical intervention, but through sophisticated technology.
As the grapes are gently pressed, nitrogen flows into the empty spaces, displacing oxygen molecules and creating an inert environment. In this way, oxidation is naturally prevented, and the must remains vibrant and unspoiled — without the need to add sulphites.
This choice isn’t just technical — it’s philosophical. By preserving the must through natural protection instead of preservatives, we honour the integrity of the grape and the land it comes from. What you taste is not what we’ve added, but what we’ve preserved: nature, at its most expressive.
